Admin Assistant For Fuel Poverty Programme
Brighton & Hove Energy Services Coop (BHESCo)
Every winter, Brighton & Hove Energy Services Co-op (BHESCo) deliver a city wide programme of support to help local residents save money on their gas and electricity bills.
This involves engaging billpayers at community centres, job centres, food banks, and lunch clubs, helping people to switch to a cheaper tariff and apply for financial support such as the Warm Home Discount.
To support our work, BHESCo are looking for a volunteer to assist with the maintenance of client records, logging client tariff details and energy consumption details.
This role will also involve submitting monthly data reports to our project funders, including summary totals of clients supported, total people who switched supplier, estimated annual savings, etc.
This is a key role in supporting BHESCo's fuel poverty alleviation programme, and volunteers will be making a big impact towards improving the lives of some of Brighton's most vulnerable households.
The right candidate for this role will:
> possess accurate data entry skills for maintaining client records
> have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel
> enjoy working as part of a team to achieve a shared goal
> This role provides an opportunity for volunteers to gain experience in data entry and data management tasks.
> Volunteers will gain insight into the crisis of fuel poverty in the UK, as well as what actions are being taken by groups like BHESCo to achieve results for vulnerable and low income households.
> Volunteers will gain insight into the energy industry, and acquire an understanding of the importance of reviewing energy tariffs and how to use comparison website such as uSwitch to identify the most cost-effective options available.
BHESCo's office is located next to the Old Steine and is easily reached by all bus routes.
Candidates can volunteer any hours they choose between 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday
Unfortunately, due to steps at the entrance to the building, BHESCo's office is not accessible by wheelchair.
Estimated weekly hours for this role are 3 hours, ideally to be undertaken in one session.
When do I need to be available?
