Black and Minority Ethnic Young People's Project (BMEYPP)

The Black and Minority Ethnic Young People's Project works with young people who are Black, Asian, Arab and of multiple heritage aged 11 to 25.  We are a lived experience led organisation.

The BMEYPP is was set up to be youth led with a management  committee of young people. Our board of trustees work alongside the project manager and management committee, support, advise and mentor them in their governance and strategic roles.

We are currently recruiting new trustees who would like to be part of the development of this unique organisation and who are passionate about the lives of with young people of colour, particularly those with experience of: marketing, finance, human resources and project management.

As part of the recruitment of new trustees we will provide team training on roles and responsibilities of board members. 

Skills

We are looking for trustees who are able to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the charity and its strategic aims and ambitions.
  • Commitment to wanting to make a positive contribution to the lives of young people of colour in Brighton and Hove and Sussex.
  • Experience of fund raising and able to support the BMEYPP to diversify our income.
  • Experience of project management and development.
  • Ability take a strategic approach.
  • Willingness and commitment to attending  a minimum of 6 meetings per year, training events and the AGM. 
  • Willingness and ability to support and mentor young people.
  • Willingness to challenge and be challenged.

In order to support the development of the BMEYPP we are also interested in people who have experience of business management, marketing and communications, human resources, finance and accounting.

Practical Considerations

Meetings usually take place virtually over Zoom, but there will also be opportunities to meet face to face for meetings, training and socially. 

When do I need to be available?

Details Meeting days and times will be negotiated with the members of the board and management committee.
