Buddy/classroom assistant for male learner in a Level 2 English class
We have a 52yr old male learner who has studied at Friends Centre for a few years now. He is continuing to improve is English skills in a Level 2 non-exam class but needing someone to help him stay focused, against extreme anxieties, and put pen to paper.
Friendly; patient; some experience with people on the autistic spectrum helpful; English as a first language due to the nature of the course; a basic knowledge of English language, though you will be very much guided by the tutor; enjoy working 1-1 within a classroom setting.
Working as part of a team; working within adult education in the city centre; the satisfaction of seeing individuals improve their skills and grow in confidence; meeting people from different walks of life; bus fare covered if necessary.
Parking is limited so walking or bus recommended - St Peter's or North Road stops are the nearest.
When do I need to be available?
|Details||This role would begin in January 2020 with the aim to support for both the spring and summer terms. If the applicant can not do both, this can be negotiated. The aim would be to meet the learner at an agreed time, with the organiser, to ensure both parties are happy, and the volunteer understands the role fully.|
