Fabrica is a contemporary art gallery in the heart of Brighton’s historic Lanes. Based in the former Holy Trinity Church, Fabrica responds to the building and its history through a programme of site-specific exhibitions and a diverse engagement programme, using creative and social activity to provoke investigation into how audiences look at the world.

Fabrica has worked with artists ranging from Anish Kapoor, Brian Griffiths, and Kaarina Kaikkonen to Brian Eno, David Shrigley, Ipek Duben, Alfredo Jaar and Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva.

As a registered charity with an educational mission we are committed to generating interest and excitement about art and creativity, through and around learning. The organisation is currently managed by a board of 9 Trustees and an Executive Team comprising of a Director and Financial Administrator, who are supported by a team of staff, interns and volunteers.

The role of Chair is a voluntary, unpaid, non-executive appointment.

Skills

The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the Fabrica’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

A passion for, and an understanding of, the arts and the positive impact it has on society is a must. You do not need to be a practising artist yourself.

Benefits

Over the past 24 years Fabrica has developed numerous partnerships and has worked with a whole range of organisations and individuals locally, nationally and internationally. Being involved with Fabrica means you will benefit from opportunities to meet, work alongside and network with a broad range of our partners, contacts, and friends of our organisation.

Fabrica has an extensive programme of events such as workshops, talks, discussions, screenings, previews, and alike. Being involved with Fabrica means you directly benefit from regular opportunities to listen to, engage with and learn from a wide range of artists, arts practitioners and creatives.

Fabrica is a dynamic, welcoming, and hugely creative environment to work in. We are also based in the heart of the city, meaning we are in a unique and exciting position where we can make a significant contribution to the arts scene in Brighton and Hove.

Practical Considerations

Fabrica is located in Brighton city centre and is easily accessed by public transport.
