At Worthing Homes Community House, residents are welcome to use computers in the IT suite. Digital inclusion is about ensuring that people have the skills and access to benefit from digital technologies to make their lives easier. Using digital technology can help people save time and money, as well as open up opportunities for work and personal interests. The role of the digital inclusion volunteer would be to:

  • Understand a residents’ goals and assess which digital skills they would like to focus on the most
  • Provide tailored one to one support either in person or by telephone (due to COVID-19) to improve their digital skills

  • Good verbal communicator: You will be providing tailored one to one support to people with very basic IT skills over the telephone or in person. You will need to be a good communicator, able to explain practical digital tasks clearly, taking a step-by-step approach.
  • Reasonable ICT skills: You do not need to be an IT expert, but if you make regular use of email, web-browsing, videoconferencing, windows explorer file systems, and cloud storage systems like G:drive and Dropbox you will have the necessary experience for sharing with others.

We will provide training, so no previous experience is required.

  • This practical role has a huge impact in our local community- You will contribute to the personal development of local people and widen the range of opportunities open to them.
