Our Dancing for Health Monday session is an inclusive and uplifting mix of seated movement and active dance, delivered by experienced dance instructor, Rosaria Garcia. Fluid exercises and movements are used to help increase strength and flexibility, and to promote renewed energy and a sense of wellbeing. The session takes place every Monday in term time, from 10:00am to 11:00 am, and is suitable for adults of all ages and abilities.

As a volunteer at the session, you will play a key role, along with Rosaria, in creating a warm and supportive atmosphere, by welcoming new and existing participants and encouraging everyone to get the most from taking part. The volunteer role specifically involves:

  • Completing the session register and taking payment
  • Helping newcomers to complete a registration form
  • Taking part in the session and providing encouragement and support to our participants
  • Helping to set out the room and tidy away afterwards.

We are looking for someone new to join us when the session resumes on Monday 9th September.

Dancing for Health is part of the Active for Life programme, delivered by the council's Healthy Lifestyles Team. You will be regularly supported by one of our Active for Life supervisors during your volunteering.

We are looking for someone who is friendly, enthusiastic and reliable, and with an ability to engage with adults of all ages.

A willingness to get involved in the session is essential. Many of our participants are new to exercise or have a range of health conditions so need support and encouragement to build their confidence.

An interest in health and physical activity would be beneficial.

  • The opportunity to help people improve their fitness and wellbeing
  • Free participation in the session and improvements to your own health and wellbeing
  • Experience in physical activity session delivery
