It's TTW's 10th anniversary this year, and we became a CIC 18 months ago as the breadth of our work has increased hugely over the years, leading to us needing to become incorporated.  Our board of directors meets every 6-8 weeks and we are seeking 2 more directors for specific roles - Company Secretary and Treasurer.  Neither role is hugely demanding, but very necessary.

We have  a paid book-keeper and administrator, so they do most of the actual day to day work, but we need someone to officially oversee their work.  These jobs are currently being covered by existing directors who would dearly like to expand their own roles more.

Skills

Our organisation deals with issues around the environment and climate change and it would be helpful if the new directors had an interest in these subjects, however it is not essential.  Previous financial experience is needed for the Treasurer role and admin experience preferable for the Company Secretary, as they will be dealing with official documents and correspondence occasionally.

We run a variety of events and projects throughout the year and it is useful if directors can also help out with some of these, when they can.

Benefits

As a director of TTW, you will be invited to comment on and influence local policy, and to attend local events from time to time, so you have the chance to meet a wide range of interesting people from our town and the surrounding area.

You would be part of a team that is making a real difference to our community, in many ways.

We run several projects and events that are informative, inspiring and link in with many like-minded groups in the area so you would have the opportunity to make new friends, widen your social circle and learn new skills.

Practical Considerations

At present our office is on the 2nd floor of a building in the town centre and our directors' meetings are held there and the lift is out of order, so mobility problems could be an issue.  We may not be there for much longer so may revert to meeting at the home of one of our directors and, again, the room is upstairs but not in the town centre.  It can be reached by public transport if needed.

Other events and projects are mostly near public transport links but all within the Worthing area.

When do I need to be available?

Details Directors' meetings are usually held in the evening from 7.30-9.30pm, by mutual agreement with each other. Other events are at various points of the year.
