Directors/Trustees sought for Brighton-based, award-winning social enterprise (voluntary).

The Woodstore (Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project) is a multi-award winning social enterprise founded in 1998 to save resources and create employment and training opportunities for local disadvantaged people.

We have pioneered the collection and reuse of waste wood, helping to change the working practises of the construction industry nationwide. Over the past 20 years, hundreds of local people have had their lives transformed by their time training/volunteering with us. Our business model has been replicated around the country; becoming the largest social franchise in the UK, now with 30 enterprises nationwide.

We are going through a period of change and development; among other things, we need to find a permanent home, apply for charitable status and find more effective ways to market our services. But we have great potential to expand, both our environmental and social mission, and we wish to recruit up to 6 new Directors (who will become Trustees once charity status has been granted) to help us navigate the current challenging path and help us to take advantage of all the opportunities out there.

We are looking for people who can give around 2 hours per week over the longer term and who have experience in business or the charity sector, or in specific fields including finance, marketing, sales, HR, operations, logistics or administration – or who just feel they have something valuable to contribute.

The Woodstore has a high profile and great reputation, along with a hard-working and committed workforce and a current small but experienced Board.

We would love you to join us in taking this important and highly successful social enterprise forward, so please get in touch.

Please do not hesitate to call Richard Mehmed (managing director) on 01273 20 30 40 / 07751 455 822 for any further information or email him at richard@communitywoodrecycling.org.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you.
