Drop In Volunteer
Black and Minority Ethnic Young People's Project (BMEYPP)
The aim of the role is to provide information, support and advice to Black, Asian, Arab and Mixed Parentage young people aged 11 to 25 at the BMEYPP drop in sessions. The drop in sessions currently take place fortnightly on Wednesdays and offer a variety of activities such as multi-cultural cooking, arts and crafts, games. Sometimes we invite specialists to come and facilitate activities, or we may show a film and have a discussion, or an inspirational guest speaker. We are looking for Black, Asian, Arab and Mixed parentage young people who can be positive role models, build trusting relationships with young people, as well as help with the setting up and clearing up at the sessions.
As well as being a BME person, we are seeking people who are reliable, trust worthy and respectful, who are able to develop positive non-judgemental relationships with young people and who can demonstrate resilience, patience, empathy and tolerance
Reasonable transport costs are reimbursed. Induction and training will be provided. Access to training and development. This opportunity is very suitable to those who are considering a future career working with young people.
The drop in sessions currently take place in Palmeria Square which is well served by buses.
