Skills
The RISE Board is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, probity of its activities, developing the organisation’s aims and its objectives and goals in accordance with its governing documents and legal/regulatory guidelines. Benefits
The
RISE Board Trustee is a volunteer role recruited as an officer and trustee of the
RISE Board.
All
Trustees are collectively responsible for the decisions and governance of RISE.
Trustees may not agree on every matter, however all Trustees have a duty to
actively participate in the decision-making process. The Board of Trustees ensures
that RISE is well governed financially, legally and in its safeguarding work.
Advisors to our Board bring
specialist expertise or life experience that can help RISE achieve its aims
more fully. They do not hold a governance position and so do not make decisions
on behalf of RISE but can inform and influence these decisions.
When do I need to be available?
Details | The RISE Board meets around five times a year on a Saturday for three-four hours. Board members attend at least one subcommittee that usually meet in the evening for up to two hours between each Board meeting. Trustees attend meetings and events with the CEO or members of RISE Staff. There is an annual Board Development Day and a Board Strategy Day both on a Saturday and an annual RISE Day (all staff, volunteers and Board) as well as quarterly staff meetings. Trustees are encouraged to attend RISE staff meetings. It is estimated that Trustees will need to be available for around 1 to 2 days a month although this will vary. |
