During school holidays, families are encouraged to come together to cook, play and eat together.

This is an opportunity for members of a community, children and adults alike, to meet in a friendly environment where no money is needed to take part and enjoy fully.

This volunteer role is to enable this much needed scheme to carry on flourish and become sustainable over time.

This role is to support TCV staff in coordinating the different elements of the Fun Club: the food and the activities.

  •  liaise with the venues or landowners to book the spaces and secure dates.
  •  plan and coordinate food and activities (please note that we are recruiting for 2 other volunteers to specifically support in those 2 areas) 
  •  ensure risk assessment, safeguarding and food hygiene procedures are followed
  •  be/become first aid. 

Skills

This is a coordination role however, you will also have the opportunity to contribute suggest ideas, share skills and knowledge with your community. You will be in touch with partners, other volunteers and members of the community. It is a rich experience that includes a divers range of topics and flavours from yummy healthy recipes to fun games!

Ideally you have some of these skills, experiences or interest:

Desired:

  •  comfortable in coordinating people and tasks
  •  team work
  •  capacity to work alone and make some decisions 
  •  administrative and IT skills
  •  access to a phone .

Bonus:

  •  knowledge in food (or experience in catering!)
  •  knowledge in sport, gardening or games activities
  •  access to a computer.

Practical Considerations

For this role you will need to be DBS checked due to the nature and age of the audience.

Currently, the sites for the Fun Club are the lighthouse church in Adur (Fishersgate) and Anson Road, a Worthing Homes site in Worthing.

Both areas can be reach by bus. 

You could decide to only focus on one of the area according to your preference and practicality.

Some degree of IT using email and phone calls are essential for this role.


When do I need to be available?

Details The Club usually takes place once per week in both area during the school holidays with the exception of the Summer and Christmas holidays where different arrangement will be made. On site: the usual format is a 11am-2pm From Home: most of this role can be done from home at your own leisure or from our office in Lancing at agreed time with TCV staff support.
