We are looking for enthusiastic, organised and reliable volunteers who want to utilise their cooking skills to support vulnerable young people in Brighton & Hove.

We are looking for volunteers who can help provide healthy, hot, home-cooked meals for a group of 15-20 young people who are enrolled in the Russel Martin Foundation Extra Time Project. Meals will need to be freshly prepared at your home and delivered to the community centre in Kemptown at Midday.

Ideally, our cooks will also deliver meals to the community centre in Kemptown, but this isn’t essential.

This opportunity does not require skills other than the ability to cook and create tasty homemade meals. If you have a car and can deliver the meals, please let us know; if not we have some delivery driver options available.

A sense of purpose, volunteering experience and food safety & hygiene training.

Practical Considerations

The role requires you to prepare food in your home for up to 20 young people; meals need to be freshly made and delivered directly to the community centre in Kemptown. If you can cook but are unable to deliver the meals, please do contact us as we also have an option for delivery drivers.

Expenses are covered, and containers and delivery bags are provided. A full DBS check will need to be completed, along with a Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certificate (costs covered).

When do I need to be available?

Details We are looking for people to commit to 1 day per fortnight for at least 12 weeks (1 school term = approx. seven mornings of cooking and delivery) - if you are away, sick or on holiday, we can accommodate for this too. Volunteers decide what days they can do, and we create a rota published in advance. The position is very flexible. Term times: 2nd September 2022 - 16th December 2022 (Half term: 24th-28th October). 3rd January 2023 - 31st March 2023 (Half term: 13th-17th February). 17th April 2023 - 21st July 2023 (Half term: 30th May -2nd June).
