IT and Digital Device Support Volunteer
Carers Centre for Brighton & Hove
Do you use computers or digital devices? Could you help an unpaid carer to learn more about their tech?
We are currently looking for volunteers to provide computer and digital device support to unpaid carers for the Carers Centre's Reablement Project, a project designed to support unpaid carers to learn new skills and achieve positive changes in their lives.
The carer will have identified a goal they wish to achieve and you will be matched to meet for an hour a week over a period of up to 10 weeks to support them in learning these skills. This will either be 1:1 in person or remotely over the phone or via video chat.
Learning IT skills can greatly benefit a caring role, reduce isolation and increase well-being.
You will receive induction and ongoing training and an invite to our monthly volunteer supervision, which is a great way to meet other volunteers and share your experiences.
A patient and enthusiastic individual with a willingness to support and enable others to work towards goals to learn computing skills.
A working knowledge of some computer systems and digital devices is essential, such as windows, tablets, smart phones, social media, online shopping as well as other features.
You should be reliable, friendly, open minded and be able to set, maintain and work within personal and professional boundaries.
You will be able to offer an hour or two a week of your time to support a carer either 1:1 in person in their home or out in the community, or remotely over the phone or via video chat.
You will help to improve a carers caring role and support changes in their lives while gaining experience and developing your own skills.
