The Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Lewes is looking for volunteers to monitor life in the prison and help make sure prisoners are treated fairly and humanely.

Skills

  • No specific skills or experience required but volunteers should be robust and be able handle themselves in a prison environment.
  • Extensive training and shadowing of experienced Board Members will be given from the outset.
  • Requires an element of IT literacy.

Practical Considerations

Commitment of 3-4 days a month.

Some remote working possible but will require regular visits to Lewes so living within 25 minutes of the town is recommended.
