Samaritans provide 24/7 confidential and emotional support for people experiencing feelings of distress and despair. The service is mostly delivered on the telephone, but also callers are seen face to face in the branch and people also contact by email and text.

By volunteering to be a Samaritan, you can help make a real difference to others and yourself - if you've ever felt the need to give something back then now is your chance to help us create a stronger, less isolated society.

Being a volunteer is flexible and planned to fit around your other commitments. You can volunteer to help support people who contact the Samaritans, or be a non-listening volunteer who helps with other roles such as publicity, admin and many other ways. Skills

No Formal qualifications or previous experience. Just need to be a good listener, not judge people, be able to give them time and space to explore and express their feelings. Training will be given.

Practical Considerations

5 Min walk from Worthing Train Station with main bus routes that stop at the end of the road. Office is opposite the old Bunces Hardware Store.
