As part of the Guild Care Transport Team, you will be at the heart of reducing isolation and loneliness for people that access our community services. You will do so much more than just pick up people and drop them off, you will brighten up people’s lives You will get to know your passengers as individuals and be on hand if they need a bit of extra support.

Each year, our dedicated Transport Team make thousands of journeys from people’s homes to our services and back again. It is because of them that so many, who would have otherwise not been able to join our services, can attend and meet with their friends. Come and join the Driving Force of Guild Care. 

Skills

  • Must be at least 21 years old with 2 years driving experience and possess the required full driving licence – (D1 Category Entitlement) This is for insurance purposes.
  • Drive a Guild Care minibus in and around Worthing to pick up individuals from their homes and drop off at one of our community services.
  • Support customers to access the minibus.
  • Encourage customers to be independent.
  • Help customers to access other Guild Care services.
  • Be polite, courteous, professional, and friendly.
  • Act as an ambassador for Guild Care whilst out and about.
  • Report concerns and observations relating to the welfare and well-being of customers to appropriate staff members.
  • Undertake visual vehicle safety checks as required.
  • Deal with any issues or incidents as they arise – following Guild Care policy & procedures.
  • Help to keep the minibuses clean, tidy, and safe.
  • Be aware of health and safety good practice and work accordingly.

Practical Considerations

You would collect the minibus from our transport hub in East Worthing.  Parking available for your own vehicle.

We would ideally like a weekly commitment on a regular basis but please talk to the volunteering team as we can be flexible.
