Your role is to greet visitors to the museum and answer their questions about the collection and provide information about the city - we are a tourist information point so this will be part of your induction. You will be responsible for admissions, shop sales and the general appearance of the museum, including cleaning.


We are looking for people with good customer service skills - communication, politeness, positive attitude, using your own initiative.


Experience in visitor service and the heritage sector.

Learning new skills and developing skills you may already have.

Improves your employability.

Practical Considerations

The Brighton Toy and Model Museum is located just under Brighton Railway Station. It is accessible by train or by many buses from Brighton and Hove areas and further in Sussex.

    There is a disabled access door with a ramp for wheel chairs users at the back of the Museum

    We provide refreshments. Travel expenses are covered after 3 months of volunteering at the museum

    We have an health and Safety Policy and Practice in place
  • Induction
    During the induction we go through the Health and Safety Policy points, explain how the Museum works, what the role includes , define the day(s) of the week that they would be working, and tell them to contact us in advance in case they cannot make a shift.

    We have a public liability and an employers liability in place that cover the volunteers

    We require a good level of English and that our volunteers are over 18 years old

    Deputy Manager supports volunteers
  • Training
    We train the volunteers by showing them how to use our point of sales till, the software for gift aid on the tablet. We explain them how to cash up at the end of the day.
