East Brighton parkrun
East Brighton parkrun is seeking additional volunteers to join our friendly, mutually supportive and enthusiastic team. Volunteers meet up at 8.30am on Saturday mornings, in East Brighton Park, to organise the parkrun for anyone who wants to join in. You can volunteer occasionally or as often as you like. Some people volunteer because they are running enthusiasts themselves, others because it’s a great way to get some fresh air on a Saturday morning, in a beautiful park, meeting up with interesting and lovely people, kicking the weekend off to a great start!
There are lots of different volunteer roles. You could be organising the finish funnel, operating the timer, or scanning the runners' barcodes with our simple barcode readers; we try to start people out on a general marshalling type job, so they get a feel for how we operate. For descriptions of these roles and others, visit
No special skills or experience required, simply a willingness to:
- Give up a couple of hours of your time on a Saturday morning
- Work as part of a team
- Support and encourage others
You don’t need to be a runner in order to volunteer at parkrun.
Every parkrun has a Volunteer Coordinator and a Run Director. They will make sure that you know what you need to do in order to fulfil your allocated volunteer role. Most importantly, we never ask anybody to do anything they're not comfortable with. If you don't want a particular task, please let us know and we will happily give you an alternative job. Nevertheless, none of our tasks are too stressful, but if you want to do a specific role, please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
Sometimes there are training opportunities for volunteers, such as defibrillator training, guide running for runners with visual impairment, litter picking. As a volunteer, you will be given opportunities to join in with training that interests you.
- Fun social interaction
- Fresh air in a beautiful environment
- The pleasure of knowing that you are helping to provide a community activity, which is open to all.
Bus: Roedean Road bus stops are served by bus numbers 7, 21A and 23 in both directions. Many other services stop close by. More details on: www.buses.co.uk
There is also some parking for cars in the park.
Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee in the East Brighton Cafe, which is also where we gather to start - please come and join us!
To volunteer, simply hit the Register your Interest button and we'll be in touch. It’s the same registration process for runners and volunteers. Once you have your parkrun barcode, you can use it to volunteer or to participate.
