Stanmer Park Historical Researcher
Brighton and Hove City Council
We are looking for someone with a keen interest in Stanmer Park and Local History to help us research the history of Stanmer Park, in particular the historic grade 2 listed water catcher, used to collect rainwater to provide fresh water for the Manor house before piped water was available.
We are also looking for people to help us research the history of the Canadian Army troops who were stationed in Stanmer Park during World War 2 when the park was requisitioned by the army.
It's an exciting time for Stanmer with lots of new events and activities taking place in the park as part of the Councils 3.75 million Heritage Lottery funded restoration project and this is a real opportunity to get involved with the park and to help shape its future whilst improving it for everyone to enjoy.
no skill or experience are necessary but a keen interest in history would be beneficial, as would some knowledge of researching local history.
An opportunity to lean more about local history
A chance to meet new people
An opportunity to help shape the future of Stanmer park
