Dv8 Sussex can offer a volunteer opportunity for someone who may have had previous experience working in a busy office or would like to develop employability skills in administration.  We can offer real work experience,  training opportunities and help the volunteer to gain real life work related skills. We would be very interested to hear from you if you have an interest in education, business admin, working with young people or the creative industries. 

Skills

Ability to build positive relationships with young people, excellent communication skill, basic IT skills, organised, friendly and able to 'muck in' with the staff team and in all departments.  Previous experience of working with young people would be useful, an enhanced DBS check will be required for this role. Willingness to undertake additional training as offered by Dv8 .

Practical Considerations

The Dv8 building is not accessible for wheelchairs, flexible on hours but a minimum of 10 hours a week would be preferred.

    There is a thorough 2 week induction process where policies, protocols, staff introductions and role profile are explained more fully.

  • Support on Offer
    One to one's every 6 weeks with the volunteer co-ordinator and chance to debrief on vol experience at the beginning/ end of each shift.
  • Training
    Before officially starting volunteers will have to attend 5 core training sessions in working with young people, boundaries and listening skills, dealing with conflict, safe- guarding and equal opportunities.
