Tidy Up Team
Brighton and Hove City Council
The Tidy Up Team is a scheme organised by Brighton & Hove City Council to provide volunteers with the skills, information,tools, and materials to carry out litterpicking in green spaces across the city.
No special skills or experience is required, full training is provided before volunteers participate in litterpicking.
Being part of a team that is making a real and measurable difference to the city environment.
There are opportunities to get involved in organising community and similar activities.
Social and Civic activities are organised to bring members together.
Mobility issues may restrict activity on some sites and having the ability to hold a litterpicker in one hand and a bin bag in the other is preferred though arrangements can be made if this is not possible.
When do I need to be available?
- Litter Picking
Anyone over 18 is welcome to get involved.
Some restrictions may be applicable, contacting B&HCC to discuss first can mitigate restrictions.

No expenses are provided unless involvement in some related tasks are required such as attending conferences.
Health and Safety
Risk Assessments and Health & Safety training is provided as part of the induction.

Insurance Cover for Volunteers
Volunteers are covered by Council insurance as long as they are following guidelines and adhering to risk assessments and carrying out tasks in designated spaces.
No persons under 18 can participate as a member of the Tidy Up Team. All members are expected to own a mobile phone and have access to the internet and email
Suitable for a group of volunteers
Tidy Up Team members are encouraged to organise group and community activities around litter.
