Rottingdean Whiteway Centre
Rottingdean Whiteway Centre has rooms for hire and for 45 years has organised adult education courses on subjects such as history, music, languages, archaeology, science, current affairs and other subjects of general interest. About thirty-four courses are available for three terms per year of ten weeks each broadly following the school terms. The role is voluntary and unpaid.
The role would be Treasurer whose duties would be:
1) Ensure that clear records are kept and that effective procedures are in place,
2) Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation and
3) Production of necessary financial reports and accounts and returns
Attendance at ten management committee meetings per year is expected subject to emergencies, of course.
Good written communication skills
Reasonable IT proficiency, particularly with word-processing and spreadsheet
Ability to forward plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
Good organisational skills
Ability to work well with others, in particular, the members of the Centre’s management committee
Doing something very interesting and rewarding for the benefit of the local community.
Working with the other like-minded and supportive members of the management committee.
Working in a centre with an excellent reputation for the quality of its adult education provision.
The role is ideal for a person who is retired and can give some time to the community. Ideally, they should live locally to or within a few miles of Rottingdean. The Centre is 2 minutes’ walk from the No 2 bus route and 5 minutes’ walk from routes 12, 14 and 27.
