Livestock (Mothers Uncovered/Soulfood)
Are you looking to make a real difference to a local community charily? Do you have good business skills that can help make that difference? Do you have at least 2-3 hours a month that you could give to provide support?
Livestock is a charity that works within the community, running arts groups, events and performances to support, educate and entertain.
The main project is Mothers Uncovered which is a creative support network for (mostly new) mothers. It is to provide a support service to mothers through workshops and arts projects. We give women the chance to talk openly and honestly about their feelings and experiences, without fear of judgement. It is also to give women the chance to celebrate and mark this point in their lives.
The charity also presents SoulFood - community food workshops. SoulFood runs events in schools, food banks and community centres to get participants excited about food and feeling confident in sharing food skills and ideas.
Lastly, our thespians present events and m/others uncorked which is immersive, improvised shows dealing with social issues.
We are looking for trustees with business skills to support us in helping us to run the charity better and to share in shaping the next steps and future of Livestock.
We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have skills/experience in the following areas:
- Governance and leadership
However, whatever your business experience has been we would like to talk to you and find out how you could contribute to our work.
In addition to this, previous third sector experience or knowledge would be beneficial, and a passion for the work that we do as an organisation is a must. We are looking for individuals that are dynamic and able to get involved.
The time commitment for this is 1 meeting quarterly, usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening. We also require trustees to commit to 2-3 hours a month contributing within their skill area, or general Livestock projects.
This role will give someone the opportunity to:
- Be involved in a growing local charity
- Have opportunities to learn and develop, or practice existing skills
- All expenses paid
- Contribute to the future of this organisation
Training is accessible for this role.
The meetings are held on the first floor of an old building with no lift, so, accessibility may be an issue for some but we are open to finding an online solution.
When do I need to be available?
