Could you help us transform the lives of people living with an acquired brain injury?

We are currently seeking volunteers from the West Sussex community to join our Trustee Board. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in any of the following - fundraising, event management, adult social services or the NHS.  We are also looking for people with a business background who can help us build our networks amongst businesses based in West Sussex.

Trustees are, in effect, Directors of our charity. They set the direction, take strategic management decisions and ensure that funds are used appropriately. The day to day management of the organisation is the responsibility of our Manager and small staff team.

We are still recruiting to this role despite the COVID-19 emergency because it's important to our future. We would really like to hear from you if you're interested, even if it may not be practical for us to meet in person for some time. We could talk by phone or video link initially so you can find out more about the role and if it might be right for you.

Skills

You don't need to have been a Trustee or Company Director before. Applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and communities would be welcomed, especially those with experience of caring for someone with a brain injury or other long term condition.

We are looking for people who have:

  • A desire to make a difference to people with an acquired brain injury - an often overlooked sector of the disabled community.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Good, independent judgment.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Willingness to speak their mind and the ability to do this constructively.
  • Willing to learn about, and accept, the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
  • Able to work effectively as a member of a team

You don't need to have  a particularly specialist expertise. However, we are especially keen to hear from people with a background in any of the following - fundraising, event management, adult social services or the NHS.
