Would like to be involved in steering a small charity helping disadvantaged local children?  This is a great opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a difference locally.

You don't need to have been a trustee before.

We are a small West Sussex charity providing play therapy and therapeutic resources to support the emotional well-being of disadvantaged children and families. We were founded in 2015 by Felicia Lycett, an accredited play therapist.

COVID has had a massive impact on children's wellbeing - particularly those from the most disadvantaged households.  We are keen to expand our services to help more local children get the support they need to recover.

We are governed by a small board of trustees which meets 4-6 times a year.

We are now looking for two more trustees to expand our development capacity .  As a small charity, with no paid staff yet, we need trustees who are able to provide direction and do some hands-on development.

Your role will be to:

  • Attend the board meetings.
  • Take a lead in overseeing and steering a particular aspect of the charity's development (making the best use of your skills and interests).
  • Be a sounding board and critical friend for the founder.

You don't need to have been a trustee before.

We are looking for people who would love to use their skills to help a small, local charity and want to do more than just turn up for a meeting.

You should have:

  • Drive and energy and be good at getting things done.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work as part of a small team.
  • An ability to think strategically and turn strategy into action.
  • A belief that all children deserve the best possible start in life.

If you have specialist skills such as HR, business development, bid writing, commissioning, communications, IT or general management then that would be great too.

But we are also interested to hear from people from other backgrounds.

By joining our board you will have the chance to:

  • make a positive difference to the life chances of disadvantaged, local children - including those whose wellbeing has been affected by COVID.
  • contribute to the growth and development of a young charity.
  • meet new people and be part of a postive, committed team.

Practical Considerations

Our board meets on Zoom at the moment.  When we emerge from the COVID restrictions, we hope to meet  face to face again in Worthing.

When do I need to be available?

Details You should be able to commit to attending board meetings. Beyond this, there is considerable flexibility to help you fit this role around your other commitments.
