A trustee is someone who is responsible for helping to run a charity. Our charity is registered with the Charity Commission and we routinely report to them on all our activities. Trustees work as a group to make sure the charity is run properly, and they are responsible for making decisions about what the charity will do. Being a trustee is a voluntary activity, and our trustees do not get paid for what they do.
What does being a trustee involve? Trustees have a duty of care. This means being responsible, giving enough time to do things properly, using your skills and experience to help the charity, and keeping up to date with laws and rules about charities.
For further details please contact John Barry, Chair of the Committee, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org

When do I need to be available?
Trustees meet as often as is needed to make sure that the charity is being run properly.
At The Somerset Centre, Brighton, the trustees hold a regular Management Committee meeting every two months, which usually lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours.
If in due course a trustee takes on additional responsibilities (such as Chair, Secretary or Treasurer), they would need to be able to devote some additional time to those duties.
During the recent Covid-19 lockdowns and self-isolating periods these regular Committee meetings were suspended, but they have now resumed every two months.
Free parking is available for our regular meetings and, being situated in Kemptown, we are well served by several Brighton & Hove buses including the 1, 1A, 2 and 7 services)
