The Garden Greeter scheme is
about providing the ‘welcome’ onto the Royal Pavilion Estate. As a Garden Greeter, you will buddy with
another Greeter doing a 2.5 hour shift, including a short break, in the Royal
Pavilion Garden, greeting visitors to the Estate, answering queries, directing
people, giving out information about what’s on, and sharing learned knowledge
about the Estate, the Garden, and its buildings. There will be two shifts per day on Fridays,
Saturdays & Sundays from April – September 2019. We ask for a minimal commitment of two shifts
per week.
You will be fully inducted and
trained in all aspects of Estate security across the Dome, the Royal Pavilion
& Brighton Museum. You will need to
be reliable and able to liaise with the partner organisations to ensure
information is up to date for visitors.
You will be provided with a Garden Greeter T-Shirt, badge, bag, and all up-to-date
information including a history of the Estate, its buildings and the Garden.

You will learn about the history of the Estate and its buildings and Garden, which you will build on throughout the season, imparting knowledge and information to visitors. You will have an understanding of how the Estate works, in terms of its people, its venues and its activities.

Travel expenses as a volunteer can be claimed back as part of our Volunteer Policy, up to £5 per day. The Pavilion Garden Café offers free tea and coffee and 50% off food whilst you are on duty for your shift.
Practical Considerations
This role operates within the Royal Pavilion Gardens through the summer season, April - September 2019. Shifts are 2 hours long, and run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We expect a commitment of one shift per week.
This is a role that includes some lifting and carrying, and walking around the gardens talking to visitors.
